Why at european football matches in the uk, you cannot purchase any beer? and is this the same in eurpoe too? thanks.

I can't think of another sport where fans have to be segregated... go to rugby drink pints with your mates and sit next to a crowd of the opposition supporters... no prob...
I have had great times at cricket matches and rugby games hot day in june friend and I england supporters in a crowd of welsh fans at Twickers when we beat them 50-3... they were such fun despite losing and there were some french fans in the mix just there for the sport...and when we played italy... even more fun so sad football fans can't behave they lose so much,,, having to be herded like cattle because of the actions of small groups of idiots
You can drink at any premiership, FA cup, league cup, JPT game, You can drink at Wembley during internationals so Rowans point is wrong and lets not forget in rugby its only the players who drink and let thier country down.
I think as Haggis says its to do with sponsership. Amstel spend loads, however you are not allowed to drink in view of the pitch??
They also won't allow the screens on during European games.
