.......refused to shake John Terry's and Ashley Cole's hands before the kick off of todays game

Like Luis Suarez refusing to shake Patrice Evra's hand last season, Ferdinand has made himself look a prat

A bigger man would've shook hands

Well, probably not. But if I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.
They all need to grow up.

Whatever his name is my immediate reaction was - how rude!

Why should he shake his hand, he called him a black c••t
Why on earth should he shake hands? Plainly he still has an issue with John Terry. A handshake should be a genuine gesture, not a cosmetic exercise for the spectators and camera.
I think there is only one prat on this thread
I agree they should grow up, having said that though I wouldn't have shook their hands either. I think that Ichkeria has summed it up perfectly I also think hand shaking before Kick-off is a farce after the game sure why not.
I agree to hand shakes AFTER the match "Good game" and all that.
But the guy called him a Black C**T where is the respect in that? I beleive the best solution is to scrap pre match hand shakes to eliminate a 3rd high profile repeat of this in the premier league. After the match if you have shown respect for each other during the 90mins or had a competetive battle on the pitch then YES give your opponent(s) a respectful gesture afterwards.
It was a pretty daft rule in the first place. Footballers are only human, and also bear grudges. I can remember back to when the likes of Billy Bremner and Nobby Styles would probably have preferred to throttle each other rather than shake hands. You can also count others in that same category like Jackie Charlton, Alan Ball, Dave MacKay, Norman Hunter, Ron Harris etc etc.

Some of these guys would have stuck the head on one another instead of having a poofy handshake!
