I think even 100/1 is being mean.

We had little chance of wining the World Cup before the draw.

Now we have had the draw we will be lucky to get out the group let alone win it.
So who would you bet on then?

Spain, at 7/1, might possibly worth a punt, perhaps?

chris a good bet and the Germans @6/1 too
I dont know much about football or betting .

However given the sporting achievements recently - e.g in Tennis / Tour De France / atheletics - is there any chance that football could join the list ?

1966 is a long time ago
Don't underestimate the South American teams.

Argentine are ranked 3rd in the world.

Columbia are 4th, Uruguay are 6th and Brazil are 10th
>>>I don't know much about football

Those other sports were all won by people who were world class at their particular sport.

We don't have one player at the moment who is "world class" at football.

Certainly few of our players would get in the Spanish or German team.

Rooney is probably the nearest we have, and even he disappoints at major tournaments.

Lampard and Gerrard were world class but are well over 30, Ashley Cole was but seems to be fading.

Most of the rest are just average to good international players.

A team who wins the world cup probably have 5 or 6 world class payers, we have one at a push.

belgium are seeded why??
Benteke!! (utv)
Belgium are ranked 11th in the world (but were higher when the seeding was chosen).

They also won their qualifying group very easily.
Dembele, Fellaini, Hazard, Lukaku, Van Buyton
Vertonghen, Vermaelen, Jean-Claude Van Damme.....
Surely they have a 3/1 chance of winning the group, and then a 15/1 chance of winning the cup.
Gambling odds are not worked out that way, Blue Toffee.
And anyone taking less than 10/1 for a European team to win is barking mad! No European team has ever won the World Cup on South American soil but @ 10/1, a nice e.w. bet can be had.
Well Ken, you can see I'm not a gambler.
>>>Surely they have a 3/1 chance of winning the group

That is like saying me and Usain Bolt both running the 100 metres, and because there are only two of us, me having a 2/1 chance of winning.
.....if there are only two of you, you have an even chance (1/1). To be 2/1 there would need to be three of you....
