"Away" Winners In P/O S/F First Leg Not Getting To The Final
I've just finished watching season 1 of the brilliant "Take Us Home - Leeds United" series on Amazon Prime.
This series focusses on Leeds' attempts to get promoted from the Championship to the Premier League in the 2018-19 season.
That season, Leeds qualified for the play-offs, and it is on that subject that I'm seeking some help, please.
Leeds beat Derby 1-0 away in the first leg of their Championship Play-Off Semi-Final. However, they lost the home leg 4-2 four days later, thus failing to progress to the Final by way of a 4-3 aggregate defeat.
The programme's narration stated that "This is the first time that the winners of an 'away' Play-Off Semi-Final first leg have not progressed to the Final."
What I'm trying to find out is whether that "stat" applies purely to the Championship (Tier 2) play-offs or whether it applies across all divisions of the Football League?
