This propaganda and counter propaganda is becoming rather baffling .
I just heard on Sky News that Putin's recent interpreted speech stated that the leaders of this mutiny will still be punished. Is Wagner leader up to his neck in deep faeces or off the hook?
A man on the slopes by all accounts :-)
Question Author
I’d guess Prigozhin is off the hook.
For now.
Prigozhin probably just wanted his lucrative international criminal interests preserved. These were threatened by Shoigu: so he attacked Shoigu and the head of the army not Putin specifically.
But Putin freaked out looked weak. It was merely his good fortune that his generals did not side with Wagner. Tho as I said before their initial silence was deafening
He is fatally weakened and his regime is doomed
He's lost credibility on the world stage and that loss is probably, and hopefully, irreversible. The empire is crumbling.
This is what happens when crime families get so big that they take over whole countries. Some of them come to sticky ends and the others carry on. Let's see what happens.
Don't celebrate too soon, whoever follows might be even worse or he may lash out and release armagedon
Question Author
Whoever follows won’t release Armageddon. However bad they may be.
We had a lot of nonsense about Wagner stealing tactical nukes in Belarus.
It’s time we put the nuclear threat to bed.
The biggest threat comes from the Enerhodar Nuclear power plant. There is no danger of a Chernobyl style nuclear “bomb” there as all the reactors are shot down, but there is a danger of a Fukushima-style leak of nuclear waste: not largely harmlessly into a gigantic ocean as with Fukushima, but into rivers and seas
Question Author
It is puzzling to me though that some Wagner troops are being sent to Belarus: excitable claims that they could attack Ukraine from there are nonsensical: in Belarus they are miles from the action where they might be needed. All I can think is that they’re there to guard Gauleiter Lukashenko :-)

And the latest is that the FSB closed the criminal case on the "rebellion"

Take that, Prigozhin! lol
ichi //And the latest is that the FSB closed the criminal case on the "rebellion"//

The criminal case maybe, but don't bet the farm on Prigozhin's longevity.
//excitable claims that they could attack Ukraine from there are nonsensical: in Belarus they are miles from the action where they might be needed.//

Well yes and no. They could start a war on another front which would split the Ukrainians.

Not saying they will, but is is one possibility.

Who knows at the minute though.

"They could start a war on another front which would split the Ukrainians. "

Believe me, they couldn't. The only other front they could open would be along the northern border, but what with?
And that border is mega-fortified now. Someone else put it rather well: there is more chance of Trinidad and Tobago doing an amphibious landing at Florida and marching on Tallahassee.
And Trinidad and Tobago doesn't even have an army...
Well ok, I'll bow to your knowledge which is greater than mine.

But remember even gurilla tactics, something wagner can do, would be a pain for the Ukrainians.

Plus remember the Russians just dont seem to think straight. Just look at running a long column of tanks just waiting to be picked off.

I just dont trust any of them.

All charges against anyone involved: and don't forget Wagner forces knovked out five helicopters and an Ilyushin Il-22M Coot aerial command post (the only ever instance of a loss of this kind) and radio-relay plane, resulting in the deaths of 13 precious pilots.
I agree about Prigozhin tho.

Lol. We would call that friendly fire or a 'blue on blue'
Question Author
I am not sure those claims were widely made: the one about attacking Moscow airport is news to me. The revelation that not all the videos that appeared on socal media were genuine is ... not really much of a revelation :-)
The main action was the shooting down of Russian aircraft by Wagner missiles.
The main thing Russian people may take from this is: if you are a school girl doing pro-Ukrainian art in class your dad will be arrested or forced to flee: if you are a member of a private army and you kill 13 Russian airmen you will ... get the choice of returning home, no questions asked. Small wonder there were some people in Rostov cheering the Wagnerites.
Meanwhile I think there is now enough information filtering through for us to say that Ukraine's counter offensive is moving up a gear: they do seem to be across the Dnipro in Kherson, although what exactly is happening is inconclusive. Last week they liberated Krasnohorivka, the first settlement to be retaken that had been occupied since 2014 and the start of the war. Even the BBC are reporting that now.

Tho friendly fire is usually accidental ...
It was certainly a job well done

er what did we do to mutineers?
The Bay City Rollers, er sorry the Bounty mutineers, did they sail to London and say 'Hi everyone, we're here!" - they did not

Nore 1797 - cant remember

India mutiny by connaught rangers 1922-3 - regiment disbanded "without dishonor" - George V - so he was allowed to use a double negative.

Monocled mutineer - tv prog - altho No mans land was wide enogh at time to allow disaffected men to camp in the middle.

and so - to enlighten Retro perhaps for a second time

Prighozin is in Minsk - the 25 000 others, are probably gonna be rounded up and shot
They were offered a pardon to call it off ( they did) - but being Putin, this may not be er honoured
friendly fire
oh my ! you are ALL so young !

Vietnam ( in the 'nam, when there were "gooks in the wire", they didnt kill americans, their own side did )

If a platoon commander was too keen on killing gooks, they would first roll a grenade wiv pin in, under his bed and then if he kept it up ( his enthusiasm that is!) it may be set off or he might shoot himself

fragging - - - - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fragging
