Hi everyone - with 11 days to the start of the new season in the Premier League, I've taken the liberty of restarting our AnswerBank League at Sky Sports -

As last season, we're given £100m to spend per team & have unlimited transfers until the Match Day deadline on Friday, 11th August. From then on you get 5 per Game Week, with a maximum of 50 for the season. They've kept the "Overhaul" feature, when *unlimited* transfers will be available, *not* coming out of the 50 per season allowance - this is always quite handy! This season though (from what I can tell at the moment) it'll only be available once - Game Week 22 (?) in January. I'll add more info as it becomes available.

In there, scroll down to "Captain Changes" - you should read that section.

Hopefully all our regulars will enter a couple of teams each. If you've not joined in before & fancy having a go this season, don't worry if you know *nothing* about football - you can use the option to have a team selected at random.

When you've picked a team (or two) - yourself, or used automatic selection, name your team(s), then join the League - ours is called "AnswerBank" & the PIN you need to enter is -

You can then change the visibility of your team(s) between "Public" & "Private", depending on whether or not you want other Managers to be able to see who you've picked. When your team is created, click your "Team Name" button above the pitch, then click the switch from "Public" to "Private".

A note here - just because I'm called the League "Chairman" doesn't mean I'm given special powers. I can't see "Private" teams & I get no other privileges.

Ok, I think that's covered everything needed to get the League going – I’ll post reminders every now & again, more often as the opening day nears & then for each Game Week.

Bump! Easy to play fabulous prizes to be won. You don't get any spam etc... you can even leave your computer generated team for the whole season if you don't want to be bothered each week. You can easily set your captains for the game week too.

And remember your playing against fellow Abers although you might not know who they are... it is a private league for ABers.

We've only 4 Managers (8 teams) at the moment & 1st kick-off is on Friday, so unless the numbers increase rapidly, I don't think it'll be worth continuing.

Perhaps folk are bored with it & at the end of the day, it's time to blow the whistle? Please let me know what you think...

Hi L.I.K. I do expect a few more on board, but if it does stay low numbers I might have a chance at a top ten finish so I'm playing regardless.

I thought this before to make things easier on yourself if you do continue how about just a reminder post at the start of the gameweek opposed to each match day games.

I don't think it's just FF that's declining in numbers AB in general seems to be dwindling bit by bit especially lately.

Hi Arky - it's not *doing* the notifications that bother me, it's potentially doing them for so few, when - other than yourself, occasionally Ken & now Moorea - no-one replies anyway, so I've never any idea if anyone's reading them & if they're of any use.

Imo, the League needs at least 20 teams to be worth carrying on with & I doubt I'll bother playing this season unless it *really* picks up before Friday. I might change my mind though, I'm fickle like that ;-)

I will carry on with reminders as usual for those Managers that are already in the League, though :-)

Understood as always your call. About ten years ago I started a Champions league one.
Only one team per player but they were only six of us so gave that up as a poor response and let it be after that, I think I came third such is my managerial genius.

Newbie has hit a problem - I mistakenly put in 5 midfielders instead of 4 in one team - I transfer the player out and put in a striker - all looks OK but, when I go back to the team later, it has reverted to what it was with the 5. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Moorea - are you sure the funds add up? If you're trying to exchange the midfielder for a more expensive striker, it might not accept the change - just a thought. I'll have to get back to this later, am away from the screen for 30 mins or so.

Hi Moorea. just retested what L.I.K suggested If you have gone over the allowed budget the confirm transfers won't turn green, bottom right.
That's assuming you are that far along and altering your team.

Yes you got it - confirm before was always "grey" and, when I corrected things it was "green". Thanks - I'm a slow learner!

I've entered 2 teams and even though i was careful to do so under the 'private' header, t'would appear that both teams are 'public' :-(

I even tried re-registering them but that was a no-go.

Thanks, LIK. TBH, i didn't read the OP as i thought i knew what i was doing from previous seasons. Obviously one of those extremely rare occasions when i didn't know what i was doing :-))

Arky, the only reason i wanted them to be private is that, come the end of the season when you and i are tying for the wooden spoon, i don't want you looking at the hand i will be playing :-))

By the end of last season bar three I had a completely different team almost. I just snooped if you had any United players Honest!
