"First silverware of the domestic season," is what I think they meant to say.
Or the first domestic silverware. One or the other.

So is the charity shield not worth winning then ????
Any cup is worth winning - but when only the champions or cup winners compete for a pre season curtain raiser, I doubt whether many fans would brag about winning it!

Now when you win the world club champions cup - thats slightly a different matter
This is the first valid one this year.

..and hopefully the last.
mark01 - not only do they brag about winning it - but being in it in the first place... 'Bring On The Champions!!!'
Panic, are saying that the world club cup competition wasn't approved and pushed forward by FIFA, UEFA or the FA? Therefor making the cup invalid?
Oh come on Kidd, you know the whole event was a Mickey Mouse farce.
OK, so United bag another 'Mickey Mouse' trophy in some people eyes. Farcical it may have been however it is a trophy (NO arrogance intended here) I think your been a little naive as to think that it won't amount to something bigger... IE The world cup, the Euro's, champions cup/ league. They all started small insignificant competitions. Big now yes, but not always so worth taking a part in don't you think.

I won't bother with the distraction it has caused United as the evidence is clear. (But.... not over yet!)

troutater - - - - have you lost touch with domestic football during the last 7 years?

The Charity Shield competition was renamed the Community Shield in season 2002.
