Stamford the Lion - has he a body double ?

I'm puzzled. Yesterday, I did the London marathon, and finished in a time of 4 hours 14. Where the course switches back on itself , and you can see the other side of the road, Stamford was at mile 13 whilst I was going through mile 22. I got to Stamford Bridge just after kick off, but Stamford had already done a lap of the pitch by this point. On Match of the Day they said he completed in 6 and a half hours, so how did he get there?
