I'm not a Mathew Upson fan but i would leave him in the team. He did quite well and it is time for a bit of continuity at the back.

Rooney hasn't looked anywhere near fully fit since the WC started, probably a legacy of his end of season ankle injury problems with Man Utd........Crouch should start with Defoe against the Germans

While I still don't think Upson is really international class, he is the best option we have left. Carragher is not good enough and way too slow, while Dawson lacks international experience
