I have witnessed this behaviour before, it is possible the man was having an epileptic fit or something along those lines.

Whilst on a Pattern imprinted concrete course the fellow giving us a talk about the methods of PIC- suddenly answered the phone .............. the phone was not ringing, he asked us what we wanted from the chip shop, he then ordered our food on the phone.

the food not surprisingly , did not arrive. It turned out the chap had an history of this kind of behaviour because of his epilepsy.
