When did this come into force,I have watched Wimbledon for the last 40 odd years and it has always been the MENS Singles or Doubles. Is it because of the Politically Correct BBC I wonder?

I assume you mean it used to be MEN'S singles.
I'm not sure why 'Political Correctness' would have anything to do with it.
It does sound a little odd though

Up to this Year it has been the Mens Singles and Doubles, if it is not Political Correctness what else could it be? Why change now.
The correct titles for the tournaments has always been Gentlemen's (and Ladies') Singles and Doubles, even if common parlance has been Men's and Women's.

I wondered about that, its always been Men's finals, perhaps someone should ask the All England Tennis association or whatever they are called, maybe there is a reason.
Commonly Men's, always (correctly) Gentlemen's...

Gentlemen always used to indicate amateurs whereas Players were professionals. Wimbledon became 'Open' to professionals in 1968.
