Who is the elderly man in the players box for center court, who always wears a big black hat and why is there?

You will see him in almost every game played on center court if they show enough shots of who is in the players box.
He is normally on the right hand end.

He is a voluntary steward who ensures only people entitled get in the players box. He has been there about 20 years

Think his name is David Spearing or something like that. As ubasses says, he is the steward, (he may even be senior steward) in charge of the players box.
