what's with those cloths they have?

watching womens' diving.

1. they have cloths, (i first thought they were towels), what for?

2. they are already wet --- why get into a little pool after they've dived?

I think the little pool is fresh water and they get in to wash the chlorine away, there are showers up againt the back wall as well.

Maybe the little pool is cooler and they get a chance to calm down?
I honestly don't know.
I heard Sharron Davis say to a swimmer the other day, that lovely gold medallist who could hardly speak due to her emotion 'Go and have a shower-down'
