Is the D/L method still used in 20/20 cricket? I was at a game on Friday but the D/L target was not shown on the scoreboard at any time during the second innings.

Rule 21.3:
"If, due to suspension of play after the start of the
match, the number of overs in the innings of either
team has to be revised to a lesser number than that
originally allotted (minimum 5 overs), then a revised
target score should be set for the number of overs
which the team batting second will have the
opportunity of facing, this revised target being
calculated by the Duckworth/Lewis method. A par
score will be set for the second innings. If this is
exceeded a win for the team batting second shall
result. If the par score is equalled then the scores are
tied (see 21.5, 21.6, 21.7 and 21.8 below). If after the
restart of play it is discovered that the wrong
Duckworth/Lewis target has been set the faulty target
shall stand"

Very strange. The game I attended was reduced to 12 overs per side because of persistent rain, the floodlights were in use, & yet the D/L target was not displayed on the scoreboard as at matches in previous years.

I always thought the use of the D/L system for adjusting targets in 20/20 matches very unfair so wondered if it had been discontinued this season.

I think Duckworth/ Lewis only applies when rain has reduced the number of overs available for the match after the match has started. In Northamptonshire v. Gloucestershire the rain delayed the start of the match so that only 12 overs per side could be played, but the match was otherwise normally scored.
