not sure if this Q belongs here, but here goes anyway.

If you have a flutter, either horses/football or whatever, do you go to the same bookies or do you shop around for best odds?

I have a BIL who shops around for best prices and puts on some sort of stake which covers different events for the year.
EG, Superbowl, US Open, Open, Premier league.

Mr Alba will just go to his local bookie and take a price if he feels like it.

I have about 10 on line accounts, alba, and, throughout the week, i tend to use the one with money already there. However, at the big weekend meetings and festivals (such as Goodwood, R Ascot, etc) the firms are falling all over themselves with offers and it does pay to compare the prices. So i normally end up using the firm with the best accumulative odds for whatever bet i am placing. Even if it means depositing cash.
If Mr Alba's local gives BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) he should ALWAYS take the price.
Same as ken I have 8 online accounts I like a bet on golf and believe me the difference in the odds you get looking around the different bookies is eye opening
Question Author
Will ask him about BOG this evening when he's home.

He's similar to yourself in that if he backs a certain trainer at a meeting, or a jockey, sure as eggs be eggs, that trainer/jockey will have 3 up the next day when he's not having a flutter.
Are you sure you're not him in disguise? :-))

Yo, Cuddlyone !! xx

I don't think Mr Alba would like an on-line account, I know he likes a Saturday, along to the bookies, cross the road for a pint, meet some friends/rellies and watch on big, very big tv lol
Albs xxxx
Betting shop is miles away from me so online is much better for me

plus it saves you arguing with silly drivers in your neck of the woods.

I'm still learning about this 6 cross thingy and choosing 5 horses is what 15 x £1 doubles or something?
It's alien to me lol
Sounds like an accumulater of sorts
Question Author
I can write singles :-))

Can't choose winners tho lol
I've given up the horses ..football or golf for me only
Question Author
I must seem to be making Mr Alba out to be having a problem lol

The only Golf he has a flutter on is the Open or Masters or Scottish Open and even then, not always.
He doesn't always have a bet on a Saturday either lol
I do a £5 football accumulator every weekend and quite often the difference in possible returns can be as much as £500. Which makes the extra 20 mins or so comparing the prices very much worthwhile. Or would do if i ever get one up:-)
I don't gamble it's a personal thing with me I saw a young life ruined through gambling, young friend started with small bets on horses finished up losing his wages did prison time for bag snatching
As i said on Togo's Goodwood thread, jordy, Eat your gambling money but never gamble your eating money. I have a bet every single day but my stakes vary in accordance with what i can comfortably afford to lose.
To illustrate my point on the disparity between firms as regards accumulative odds; Having spent about 25 minutes comparing prices with all my on line accounts, i have placed my £5 Saturday accumulator with Willy Hill at odds of approx 1,600/1, a potential payout of £8,004. Had i placed the same bet with PaddyPower, the odds would have been just 1,218/1, a potential payout of £6,090. A difference of £1,914. Take note, Mr Alba
Question Author
lol Ken, his local is Willy Hill.
He was supposed to go fishing today, but the offer of weekend over-time was too great to resist :-D
He's ok with Willy Hill, Alba. They are regularly among the top 3 when i compare the prices and quite often come out on top. The other 2 are Bet 365 and 888.
