Why do they have separate men's and women's competitions? I can see no reason to segregate the sexes in this sport.

Tradition..same with bowling..mixed pair rinks do happen but clubs have men and ladies sections...golf too..

UK girls just pulled off a cracker, helped by an error from the Japanese girl, putting UK three up going into end 7.

It isn't just about size or strength. I looked it up recently because of a similar thread about Darts and it turned out due to different nosy shapes, they throw very differently (from the age of 3). So maybe that's a factor here too.

Are there any sports where men and women compete equally. I am thinking something like shooting or archery ?

I was amember of a shooting club, women competed on equal terms with the men, and held their own!

In rowing women are allowed in the open category but men are not allowed in the women's. In practise this very rarely happens

They had a mixed doubles competition for the first time this Olympics.

They have separate teams because the women have an unfair advantage........They are better sweeper ups. (^_*)
