In the banquet of national hunt racing, Cheltenham is the main course and Aintree the dessert - the Grand National aside, of course. Many of those who took part in the Festival also try their luck at Aintree where, quite often, tables are turned with Cheltenham losers becoming Aintree winners.
Though the fields are generally smaller at Aintree, the trends are just as strong and i'm hoping for a decent first day;

1.45; Glen Forsa @ 7/2
2.20; Pentland Hills @ 9/4
2.50; Kemboy @ 15/8
3.25; Buveur D'air @ 10/11*

50p Yank, £1 trebles, £1 acca = £10.50 stake. Poss return of £317.75.

*Wouldn't normally touch odds-on chances (had hoped for evens) but, if it stays on it's feet, it could be the banker of the day.

4.05; Ucello Conti @ 9/1
4.40; Brelan D'as @ 9/1
5.15; Misty Whisky @ 7/1

Win singles, .50 Patent, .75p e.w. Treble = £20 stake. 3 placed = £14, 3 winners = £1,068.

Good luck anyone having a punt today

You’ve not missed much Togo, ITV coverage is getting worse by the day, fashion b/s, social stable b/s, love island b/s and a few races thrown in between the ads
Question Author
You'd have been better off backing your 3 other entries for your ITV 7, Togo. 2 of them came in. Sod's Law!
Hah Guys....Get em tomorrow. Noticed the "other" horses Ken. Dohh.
As you say, Sod's Law.
Hoping for a better day than yesterday...
1.45 Forza Milan, Maximiser E/W
2.25 Chosen Mate
3.00 Lalor
3.40 Wholestone
4.20 Touch Kick
5.15 Vintage Clouds
6.20 Pink Legend

Good luck all
Morning Panky. Not looked yet. Lovely morning up here. Get a bit of breakfast on and nip down a fetch my paper methinks. Ruddy paper lad has a lie in on Saturdays.
As I said earlier, it is beautiful up here after all that sleet and cold wind. Perhaps push on with a bit of gardening again. Tough day for a punt today, some very open races. Again gone for an E/W tickle and done an ITV7. Have left my National choices out of the usual multi bet as it is hard enough to get in the frame never mind linking a runner in with another pick.

Burrows Park @14/1* 1.45
Kateson @9/1 2.25
William Henry @17/2* 3.40
Kildisart @6/1 4.20

£1.00 E/W Acca. 20p E/W Doubles & Trebles. In the National I have done Vintage Clouds, Magic of Light, & Step Back. :)). 365 are giving half my stake back on all National runners so doubled up and done them all E/W. May even do little f/casts & tricast on the 3. Vintage Clouds goes into my ITV7 with Briac 2.50Chep, Lalor 3.00Aint. & Casual Cavalier 3.20Newc. E/W Acca on the ITV7 also. (Just 50p e/w)

Just finished perusing the stats and, with a two strikes and you're out policy, i have ended up with a handful who, Lady Luck willing, ought to keep me financially interested in the latter stages of the big race - as opposed to being a mere spectator.

I have used my 'Risk Free' bet on Vintage Clouds (yep, that makes all 3 of us but the horse does tick quite a lot of the trends boxes) with a £20 win @ 12/1. It was 14s but i had to go to 'live chat' to check that the offer was still in my account as i couldn't retrieve it. While i was on live chat, the price shortened! Then, with WH paying 6 places i have done £1 e.w. on Ramsees De Teijlee (too young to win, maybe?) @ 28/1 and £1.50 e.w. Dounikos @ 28/1. Switched to 365 for £2.50 e.w. on Walk In The Mill @ 20s and £1 e.w. on Lake View Lad @ 14s. I also have 2 x £1 free bets which have gone on Lake View Lad and Rock The Kasbah. Phew!! Time to look at the rest of the racing. Best of luck guys and back later.
Had a long look at Ramses De Teillee myself Ken. Runner up in we Welsh Nat. on New years day and was flying last year. As you say a bit young but is relatively experienced. The Sporting Life tips him. Hmmmm.

1.45 Ain; Poker Play @ 8/1
3.20 N'c; Casual Cavalier @ 9/2
4.20 Ain; Touch Kick @ 9/1
6.20 Ain; Thistimenextyear @ 9/1

Win singles, 20p Lucky 15, £1 e.w. acca (slightly shorter prices for e.w.).
4 placed = £46, 4 winners = £5,139

Add Hugo's Reflection to the mix for the ITV 7 and i've also done the Lucky 7 with WH, staking a £1 e.w. acca. Once again, chaps, best of luck - i think we're gonna need it.
Question Author
What 'mix' i hear you ask. Forgot to add my £1 Trixie, £1 Treble :-/

2.25 A; Angel's Breath @ 3/1
3.00 A; Us And Them @ 10/3
3.40 A; Sam Spinner @ 6/1 (Win single)

All 3 winners would pay £318.
I'm going to have a tenner each way on Rock the Casbah.
For the Grand National, I'm going for Rathvinden - well-handicapped, and good odds at 11/1.

Each way bet Outlander, but only because I like Caitriona Balfe :)
Good luck Melv and Goalie...….Outlander. Haha, as good a reason as any.

Was gonna back Ballyoptic cos it's running in Claret and Blue but The Clarets will be in their away strip today (2-1 @ 12s) and i don't think it likes this course.:-) :-)
Question Author
Why? Why do trainers/jockeys change tactics which have hitherto proved quite successful. Poker Play has been prominent in all 4 races so far this season with form figures 3P21. So what does Scudamore do today? Sits out the back?? Finished a never nearer 12th. No wonder bookmakers driver Rollers and smoke big fat cigars :-/
Strewth Ken. The game is mental if you are watching or listening. 2 goals in 2 minutes.
Nearly fainted going over the last......thought mine was gonna win. Got 150/1 first thing. Take the £75 and the win single on Kildesart. Stoke won away as well. Need a lie down.
Question Author
Tiger Roll...............pure, pure class. I have very little doubt that he could emulate Rummy's 3 wins in the race. Pleased with my 4th place (my main fancy went first fence!!!) even more so because my daughter asked me to put £2 e.w. on it so i doubled the bet :-)

The Super Clarets won away (Yay) doing the double over the Cherries (beat them 4-0 at the Turf). Feared the worst after the o.g. on 4 mins but all's well that ends well, to quote Bill. Great game to watch, too, as it was probably one of our best away performances of the season. If we beat Cardiff at home next week, i think we'll be staying put in the Prem. We learn not to take things for granted at Burnley - we've all been here before :-)
Returns.
Anyone help please as I haven’t a scooby.

£2 e/w at 9-1 on rathvinden.

£2 e/w at 28-1 on walk in the mill.

With coral.

What are the returns please.
With your place stakes back a total of £22.50.
