A bit of a mixed bag today some large field handicaps to ponder and a few small field races whether Stakes, Nursery, or Handicaps again. Not least the King George Stakes that despite having 400 grands worth of prize money has only 4 runners,..... and they are from only 2 yards. I read a stat today that said that O'Brien had sent out 19 different runners against Enable but not beaten her yet. Bet it drives him to distraction as he has sent the other 3 runners in a 4 horse race. They will be ganging up on Frankie then. My choices have been made and the money is down. Done the ITV7 and a little punt as per my usual.
Gin Palace @14/1 2.2 Ascot*
Hartswood @9/4 3.15 York*
Normandy Barriere @10/1 3.50 York*
Ironclad @3/1 4.00 Newmarket
£1.00 e/w Acca. E/W Trebles. Win doubles. Gin Palace e/w single.
ITV7 the *** picks with. Telecaster 2.40Y, Tsar 3.00 Ascot, Enable 3.35 Ascot, Media Storm 4.10 Ascot. I also note that our friend Koukash is running a horse that he picked up very cheaply from Gosden's yard after it had won a Nursery race well then ran poorly at the back end of last year. We know he likes his distance runners and loves to win at Chester. I wonder whether this is one that is being prepped up for the Vase, or the Ormonde there or even the Chester Cup. One to keep my eye on methinks and watch the betting today...... Arabist is currently 25/1 in the 4.10 Ascot and is being sent out by Ian Williams. Good luck if you are having a go.

Really wish I was up at York today - this enforced absence from the track has just started 'biting', particularly as this is the time of year when many of the northern tracks are busiest. I'll have to console myself with winning the ITV 7:-)) Getting past the first race would be an achievement in itself; 20 runners over 7f, a distance neither here nor there. My uncle used to say if you can find a half decent type that does well at 7f, stick with it. So i'm keeping my fingers crossed that Mutamaasik's poor run, lto, was just a blip - I am always willing to forgive a horse ONE bad run - as he has won 4 from 7 over 7f with two seconds to boot.
2.25 Asc; Mutamaasik @ 8/1 (Rev f/c with Jack's Point)
3.50 Yor; Abate @ 6/1 (Rev f/c with Autumn Flight)
4.10 Asc; Frontispiece @ 8/1 (Rev f/c with Mankayan)

4 win singles, 20p Lucky 15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = £42, 4 winners = £3,794.
ITV 7; Mutamaasik, Elarqam*, Tsar*, Hartswood*, Enable, Abate & Frontispiece. £1 e.w. acca.
*Denotes £1 Trixie, £1 Treble for possible £87 return.

Neer mind...nothing lost and a little bit in the tank overall. May have a look tomorrow....good races at York and Ascot again and the football finally comes to a close, apart from the cup. Been a funny old year. I thought I had seen it all but now I don't think I have seen the half of it. This coming Winter will need some planning and though before too long I fear.
More or less broke even, here, Togo - hate non-runners in a L15:-(
Beginning a 7 day full house paint job on Monday so if you're having a punt at Goodwood throughout the week, could you post a Goodwood thread on the eve of the first day so I can post my selections on there before I set off. Failing that, i'll start the Goodwood thread late Monday evening or early Tuesday morning on the Sports section. Not a festival my wallet looks forward to :-/

Hope you are not outside Ken....you will be running for cover every 5 minutes by the look of the weather f/cast. Goodwood starts on Tuesday, I see and my non runner Ironclad is entered up at Ayr on Tuesday. If you care to start the thread Monday evening that is OK by me Ken. Keep advising that you put the Beta version of the Edge browser on ya lappie.....it is a proper job and it will sort out the categories glitch on this site and is faster. All your settings and favourites are left untouched.

I'll probably get around to downloading Beta :-)
My exterior painting days are way behind me, Togo. Build me a scaffold high enough and i'll paint the sky blue for you. But don't ask me to put my eye level any higher than your bedroom window sill off a pair of ladders. Not frightened of heights. Just of what can happen to one's bones when falling from one :-))

Very wise Ken....I still see Aerials that I put up, with a lashing around an 8 pot chimney stack, back in the early 70s late 60s when I am out and about in N. Wales and think..........couldn't do that now. No cat ladder even never mind a scaffold. Worked in the Winter wearing just a t-shirt whilst climbing up roofs, I sometimes just stand looking up at the masts and brackets and think.......you mad beggar. The Cricket is going well. :))
