Horrible afternoon here now, wet and much colder but the sport is red hot. Some proper cards today at 3 good meetings. Done the ITV7 and ⁕⁕⁕ a Trixie with ****an Acca and doubles and trebles as per usual. Could do with a bit of Kens good luck today, without stealing his, if possible. Good luck if you have a flutter. My 7p e/w on the ITV7 would pay £250k if it came up.

Racing isn't great again, is it? Tudhope had 4 runners at good prices at Lingfield so thought I'd stick to them. First one was backed from 12/1 to 3/1 and won. Second one was only 2/1, lost. Wolver looks hard tonight so, in theory, I can't lose. (famous last words)
And I'll prob have a bet in the NH flat race that closes Newcastle. Check the betting later.

Since Hollie Doyle was put on the SPOTY list, i've been taking an interest and on Tuesday, i put a fiver on her @ 4/1 to place in the first 3 (she is now 1/7 to place). I don't think she'll actually win it (surely Hamilton must be a Schu-in) but i am a tad surprised that, from an initial price of 33s, the best you can get for her to win now is just under 3/1. According to Oddschecker's pie chart, she is the fifth most popular bet, so it must be that those few that have backed her, have lumped on big style?
It took McCoy a long, long time to win SPOTY, Spice. I can understand those in the racing world joining such a campaign, but no doubt the other contenders will have vast followings, too. If Hollie can maintain the progress she has made over the last two seasons, she will no doubt feature on the shortlist a few more times.
Same here, Togo. I more or less remained sober over 24th and 25th Dec when the kids were young. Boxing Day was the time to let my hair down, have a decent bet and a good few pints. I'd usually spend an hour with my dad and his friends (or his cronies, as my mam used to call them), then settle down to watch the racing. Home for dinner and a kip, shower, change and back out. Bliss :-)
