Never seen this before. At 5.45 a horse called Secret Potion runs at Newton Abbot. Trained by Paul Nicholls, Secret Potion is a 5 year old bay gelding. At 8.05, over at Newbury, a horse called Secret Potion is entered in the BV Handicap, the last race on the card. This Secret Potion is trained by Ron Harris, is a sprinter and is a 7 year old bay gelding.
I've seen horses with the same name run seasons apart, but on the same day?! What about you guys?
Just for the record, i have the Nicholls horse in a L15, and i'm contemplating an e.w. bet on the other @ 20s.

Yes, M, i know that the Nicholls' horse is French bred. It's just one hell of a coincidence that they both run on the same evening. An even bigger (but extremely welcome) coincidence were they both to win :-))
Indeed.

Just read to the conclusion of your link, M, and i certainly don't remember the 'Averti' race in '94.
On the Racing Post website, the Paul Nicholls horse is German bred, whilst the Ron Harris horse is British bred. Mamya's article shows that two horses with the same name were in the same race and even when the race was split into 2 divisions, they both came out in the same division until the BHA moved one into the other division. And back in 1994, Averti (USA) raced against Averti (Ire) in the same Yarmouth race.

And the Irish Averti finished 5th, the USA version 6th.

And, unfortunately for my Lucky 15, Nicholls' Secret Potion was unplaced :-(
You should'nt put your money on a three legged pony ;-)
Question Author
Unfortunately, Arky, the websites don't indicate how many legs the runners have. I just assumed they all had 4 - even though it was a handicap race :-))
I'm sure you're still on the up Ken :-) Bless the Pony... I did wonder what I was eating.
Question Author
Doing quite well with the football, not so the nags :-(
Question Author
The other secret Potion came 3rd @ 14s - i took it @ 20s :-)
