Yes, it's Wobblybum time again, folks. Hence the rain forecast in that part of the country between 12 and 3 this afternoon:-)

Once again the Djokoman is unbackable at odds-on 4/5 - 1/150 to win his first round game, 1/6 to win it 3-0 - so i'll leave off him until he plays someone who can actually hit a tennis ball with any conviction.

Having cast my eye over today's fixtures, i have (hopefully) chosen 5 players who i believe shouldn't have too much trouble reaching the 2nd round;

Cameron Norrie, Hubert Hurkacz, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul and Oscar Otte.

£5 all five to win 3-0 gets me £79.22

Question Author
Fiver down - Norrie, Tiafoe and Paul all obliged, Otte yet to play but 1/10 fav Hurkacz was beaten 3-2!

A fully fit Murray would swat Duckworth away like a fly. However, apparently he's not fully fit - abdominal strain - so i'm hoping the Aussie can take a set off him.

£5 Murray to win 3-1 @ 3/1 (boosted from 13/5) - W Hill
The Murray bet is certainly on track, he’s lost the first set, one game all in the second.
Murray with a break and serving with new balls!
Good luck Ken!
Question Author
From a fiver down to a tenner up - Ta Andy:-)

Just to rub a little salt in the wound, Otte also won 3-0 so the initial bet was bombed by a 1/10 fav!!!
Question Author
Day 2 and another chance to win some dosh or get that little bit closer to the 'poor house' :-)

Matteo Berrettini, Grigor Dimitrov, Nick Kyrgios, Sam Querrey and Emil Ruusuvuori (easy for you to say) all to win 3-0. Fiver gets me £110.37 - Bet365.

Felix Auger-Aliassime to win 3-1 @ 5/2
Alex Molcan to win 3-1 @ 3/1
David Goffin to win 3-1 @ 16/5

£1 Trixie, £1 Treble (boosted odds) for a poss £173.70 - W Hill
Question Author
Berrettini tested positive for Covid and is out of the tournament, which relegates my fivefold to a fourfold. It also takes something from the tournament, too, as Berrettini was a deserved 2nd fav to win outright.
berrettini was my bet for overall winner, djokovic doesn't look that interested so i'm struggling to find the winner . . .
Question Author
Diimitrov retired injured reducing the bet to a treble (which i would not have done in the first instance) which boiled anyway.

Did a reverse forecast with Willy Hill in the 2.30 at Brighton. Got the winner, but the other didn't run so i was paid on a win single (£10) :-)

While checking this, i noticed a price boost on Serena Williams winning first set 6-1 or 6-2. Hard to know what sort of form she is in but i honestly don't think she'd be here if she couldn't do herself justice. Surely she has far too much pride for that.

£5 Serena to win first set 6-1 or 6-2 @ 3/1.

Question Author
Lot of luck yesterday. Trouble was, it was all of the bad kind:-(

With both Djokoman and Nadal dropping sets so early in the comp, nothing is assured, so i'm ditching the 3-0s and switching to 3-1s;

David Goffin to win 3-1 @ 6/5
Ryan Peniston to win 3-1 @ 10/3
Nikoloz Basilashvili to win 3-1 @ 17/5

£1 Trixie, £1 Treble (boosted from 79/1 - just under 96/1) for a possible £232.59.

Also taken up Willy Hill's Andy Murray offer;

£5 Murray to win 3-1 @ 10/3 (from 13/5) for a poss £21.67.
Question Author
While studying the stats for the above bets, i came across a few matches which, on paper, ought to be won in short shrift by hot favourites. However, these 'hot favs' are not particularly at home on grass and they may find today's opponents rather troublesome.
I'm not going to try and predict which way these contests will go, but i am making use of a free £5 bet with Skybet, that the 3 games in question go to the wire;

Ruud v Humbert, Griekspoor v Alcaraz and Tubilo v Kecmanovic.

£5 free bet all 3 games to be five-setters for a poss £229.
Question Author
See what happens when you back Brits at Wobblybum:-J
In my defence, i always follow the stats - Murray 9-0 ahead on h2h with Isner - but they don't take into account that Murray is now a busted flush:-(

Changing tack today. All player chosen are the favs to win their games, but in reality, none of them look like getting a 'free hit'. I believe their opponents will all win at least one set;

Schwartzman, Garin, Bonzi, Shapovalov & De Minaur.

£5 all five to win with both players winning a set @ just over 111/1 for a poss £563 return.

Just one of the above obliged:-(

However, Lady Luck loves a trier:-). The following games could go either way, particularly the first with both players priced up at 10/11 to win. I just feel Bublik's serve will see him through, though i wouldn't be surprised if one or two went the distance.

Alexander Bublik to win 3-1 @ 4/1
Tommy Paul to win 3-1 @ 3/1
David Goffin to win 3-1 @ 10/3

£1 Trixie, £1 Treble for a poss £240.88.
Question Author
My 2nd bet today;

John Isner to win
Djokoman to win 3-0
Oscar Otte to win at least a set
Cameron Norrie to win with both players winning a set
Kaja Juvan to win
Agelique Kerber to win

At just over 20/1, a successful £5 bet would realise a return of £107.

Almost everything i've backed at Wimbledon has turned to mush. The same can more or less be said about my bets in other sports this week - football, horse racing and golf. I'm on whatever the opposite of a purple patch is:-(
However, like a forward who hasn't scored for a while, the only thing to do is to play through the barren spell, knowing that, sooner or later, something will click. Hopefully beginning with this bet:-)

Alcaraz and BPTWS (both players to win a set)
Norrie & BPTWS
Goffin & BPTWS
Djokoman to win 3-0

£5 @ just over 24/1 = poss £125.78
Question Author
Way off the mark once again. It would seem (to me, at last) that some players are leaving their best tennis in their previous rounds:-(

De Minaur to win 3-0
Kyrgios to win 3-0
Fritz to win 3-1
Nadal to win 3-1

£5 @ just under 37/1 for a poss £189 - Bet365
Question Author
I've hardly put a foot right throughout this tournament so Cameron Norrie fans will no doubt take plenty of heart from today's bet.

Once upon a time, as all good fairy tales begin, a British tennis player won the final at Wimbledon in the year of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

However, this is no fairy tale and, to be quite frank, Norrie has been a tad lucky with some of the opponents he has faced - and. on a couple of occasions, struggled to beat. Today he is up against The Master and, unless Djokoman has 'one of those days', i see nothing in this for Norrie but experience.

Djoko is 7/100 to win, also odds-on to win 3-0, so neither appeals to a 'fun' punter such as myself. This bet does, however, and i am just hoping that Djoko is quick off the mark.

Djokovic; to win the match, to win first set 6-0, 6-1 or 6-2, and to fire over 5 aces throughout the match.

£5 @ 10/3 = £21.66 - Bet365

Ladies Final Day and number 2 seed Ons Jabeur faces Elina Rybakina, seeded 23. Jabeur is attempting to become the first ever African woman to win a Grand Slam in the open era.
And she is priced to do so @ 33/50.
Her opponent is also attempting to make history as the first Kazach woman to win a Grand Slam. Having dropped just the one set on her way to the final - disposing of Simona Halep in the semi (aided by the former winner's poor service games) - and poses a live threat to the Tunisian's ambitions.
I am hopeful the following bet will produce a return;

Ons Jabeur to win the match
Ons Jabeur to fire over 3 aces
Over 22.5 total games in the match

£5 @ 4/1 - 365
