If the test is over 5 matches, how come England will win it in the next starting Tomorrow, if there has only been one draw and one win to England?

Because if England win it will be 2-0. With 2 games left.

Assuming Aussies win those then England will retain the Ashes because they have not lost the series

But surely to be fair Daily-Editor, 2 wins each and a draw should depend on a final match, or am I being stupid?

The rule regarding who holds the Ashes is that the trophy stays where it is until the other side defeats the holders.

The rule with 'scoring' test matches is that drawn matches don't count for either side. (So the score after the first test match remained at 0-0, not ½-½).

So the current score is 1-0 in England's favour, with 3 matches left to play. If England win the match which is about to start the best that the Australians could hope for, at the end of the series, would be a 2-2 outcome. Under the rule outlined in my first paragraph that means that England will automatically retain the Ashes.
