Something to do with sponsorship of the brazilians I think
Hampden Park only holds just over 50,000 these days, unlike the old days when it held more than the old Wembley. If it had been a meaningful International the Match would have been at Hampden.

I've just been told by a Scottish mate of mine that it was, in effect, a Brazil home game. They had the choice of venue and Scotland, as the away team, had to travel.
