Is this a huge gamble by Abramovich in appointing him as Chelsea's new Manager.
He was Assistant Manager under Jose Mourhino before being appointed Manager so he did have a good mentor.
He is very inexperienced and at the age of 33 is the same age as some of the Players in Chelsea's squad.
The Premiership will be a huge testing ground and I can see Chelsea spending big money again before the new Season starts.

Its a big step up but he has some form taking Portuguese Side Academia from bottom and winless to 11th (midtable) in the short time of being manager. Add the success he had working to Mourhino and Chelsea must see something in him to buy him out (£13.5m) of Porto. Him over Avram anyday.

Agree barney, at least he is fluent in English as well.
Avram was never really going to make it at Chelsea.

of course it's a risk but he's shown a fantastic capacity to manage already, he's been coaching since he was 17 and took his first managerial role at 21, since he took over at Academica he's been a revelation.
Aparently he's incredibly studious and likes to play football as it should be played claiming pep Guadiola is a massive inspiration.
I read someone say that he would have been taylor made for Liverpool now given that we're rebuilding a new young side, and I would agree with that if we had anyone other than Kenny. I think he'll be great at Chelsea and I'm just glad he didn't got to Utd!

Not sure if I agree about managing Liverpool though as we needed someone with an insight into the background of the Club and everything associated with that !

if you took Kenny out of the equation though, there wouldn't be many to choose from. He'd certainly have been one of the one's I'd have liked. He's got a freshness about him and seems quite a humble fella and, most importantly, likes to play football.

Interesting choice.... but is he strong enough to stand up to his boss.... hope so...at least its someone who should bring some fresh ideas... fingers crossed it will be an interesting season

Welcoming a new Chelsea manager is similar to living on a busy street and buying a kitten - you don't get too fond of it because it's not going to be around for long !
