Did you see the accident in the Tour de France this weekend ?

(I only saw it in today's paper)

This car tries to get past the two leading riders, goes up on the verge, swerves to avoid a tree, and takes out both the leading riders !!

And I thought MY bike rides were hazardous.

The guy who got thrown into the barbed wire fence ... there was a picture of his leg in the paper. All his clothes were ripped off, and he was really shredded. (quite a nice butt, though!)

obviously as a cyclist he deserved it as;

a) a few cyclists jump red lights
b) they dont pay road tax

I was only the other day thinking to myself what a surprisingly dangerous sport road cycling is, how many other sports do the competitors suffer broken bones and bad cuts on such a regular basis, even boxing and motor sports seem to be far safer. Still it is my favourite sporting event of the year, I find myself glued to it every July.

Andy Schleck is the Belgian rider who was cheated out of victory last year when Alberto Contador took advantage of a mechanical failure, something that just isn't done in cycling.

I saw the pictures in the papers, one rider was knocked into barbed wire, the pictures were horrific, the car that did it, the driver was off the course and sent packing.

The rider had 33 stitches but was OK to ride today, yesterday was a day off, the driver was kicked out of the tour.

Oh and the team involved are considering legal action.
