In fact I am surprised Villa were stupid enough to offer him a job, ignoring he was the ex Birmingham manager, he was just a BAD manager.
He has taken Birmingham down twice, may yet still take Villa down (though QPR and Blackburn losing yesterday may JUST save them - though it could still happen).
I think he should take his golden handshake when he leaves and retire to an island somewhere to see out his days.

there are several schools of thought on this tony. http://www.astonvilla...s-leaving-think-again
>>>and lerner seems happy with his performance as a manager so far.
What gives you that impression? Any quotes anywhere?
If so the chairman is just trying to justify his own decision to appoint him in the first place.
A lot of chairman say "his job his safe" a week before they sack him.
I think McLeish will go at the end of the season, if he doesn't the season ticket sales for next year will drop like a stone, and Lerner wont want that.
