Not only his playing but his motivation of the whole team. You're right Elvis tho, the five birdies put doubt in the USA and Olazabals playing order for the singles was inspired........Seve is looking down bless him
so you only get a knighthood for raising money for charity, not representing your country and performing to the highest level of your chosen profession. Inspring people, motivating people, flying the flag etc etc.....suppose we should shoud strip redgrave, branson, sugar, hawkins, hoy, holmes and many more in case they've not raised enough money for charity

Try removing the word "only"
My point was that super rich, such as those you have already mentioned, have already have their rewards and recognition, especially sportspeople, and I would much rather that recognition in the form of honours went to people who fly under the radar despite the fact they have contributed so much, and not necessarily to charity, just that they have made a contribution/difference to their local communities.

"they're not super rich when they start off are they, honours for all for sure but the highest honours are for this who inspire others to work hard and aim for the top regardless of your background."
We all enter the world naked and penniless, that was never at question, I just find the idea of honouring already globally recognised and highly recompensed sportsmen as sightly obscene, (or don't they have enough already?). No golfer footballer or rugby player has ever inspired me to work hard or aim for the top, that came from within.
