Don't think this has anything to do with morals. The general assumption was that they found traces of cocaine which is a recreational drug, not a performance enhancer. In other words, he may have been breaking the rules, but he wasn't actually intending to cheat. Chances are he just did a bit of partying the night before.

I think Dettori is the tip of a very big iceberg when it comes to using cocaine..It is rife in the showbiz world and society in general.
Comparing him to Lance Armstrong is wrong, cocaine isn't a performance enhancing drug and he didn't take it to help him win more races...Unless he was that high he could pick the horse up and carry it of course.
He was found to have used it many years ago but due to recent troubles in his life he must have given in to temptation...As for "getting away with it" he could have just not raced and run the risk of being tested if he'd had wanted to..Jockeys are tested on the day of the races and even have to take a breathalyser.
Dettori has made enough money to never race again, the fact he lives on starvation rations to continue riding shows he loves the sport.
Hope he gets himself well and is back soon.
