The awarding of the start of the TdF here in 2014 and the Giro in Northern Ireland/Ireland was done so as a reward for Bradley's win, Team GB Cycling's continued success and the subsequent resurgence in UK cycling in general.
Long may it continue.
The Tour of Britain is coming through my home town in September and I've already booked the day off work to go and watch and support.

Unfortunately, Sir Brad has had to retire. Initially a good start, but crashes, fall and illness have combined to see him drop further and further back on a daily basis, to the point that there is no point risking his health further.
The rest of Team Sky look in good shape though and hopefully Wiggo can re-invigorate himself for the TdF.
