I've just discovered that I can get this channel even tho we've only got the basic package. I could have been watching all the races. Aaaaaargh.

When you "basic" package what basic package?

I have Sky HD and have just got an email from Sky saying I now get Sky Sports F1 HD as part of the HD pack.

I already pay for Sky Sports so got it anyway.

Yes VHG, we have an HD box and as such this is part of the basic package for this machine.

Just having a Sky HD box does not automatically give you HD channels.

You have to buy the Sky HD package to get the HD channels.

I recently had to replace one of my boxes as it developed an intermittent fault. Tried Sky, but they would only give me a new box for £60/£65, which just happened to be HD, if I took out an HD subscription for extra £10 per month.

I don't have an HD tv so didn't take them up on their "deal", but bought a 2nd hand box - HD - for £20, and am using that as a normal Sky+ box.

Just picked up another HD box today for £5, which will also be used as a normal Sky+ box.

Yes if you subscribe to Sky HD you get the F1 channel. No need to pay for Sky Sports.
