So soon after her career-best streak of won matches? Don't think I can put it down to age -- just, on the day, a better opponent. I felt that Lisicki would be able to test Serena on grass, but even so was surprised by the result. Serena wasn't at her best, but I expect her to pick up the US Open title and a few more to boot this year.
Felt sorry for her, but at the same time it's great to see younger players coming to the fore. Happens to the best of players over time. By the way, what happened to Ilie Nastase, what a character in the 80s!
Yes, I think the winner will be from the three, Radwanska who is a craft player, Kvitova loses concentration at times, if she stays focussed she could do it and she's won it before, but looking at Lisicki, she might be the best bet, I think.
Lisicki's biggest enemy is her own lack of consistency. Also at times she seems not to be able to fall back to a "B game" if she's not at her best. Her quarter-final against Kerber last year was particularly horrible to watch, Kerber seemingly not interested but Lisicki unable to capitalise. If she can overcome that then she ought to be best-placed to win but I'm still backing the young blood of Stephens.
Jim I hope you are right. It would be great if she wins. She did very well at the Australian open. Pity our Laura was pipped, She did try. and Maggiebee, Nastase is present at nearly all these events, I've seen him. He also has a job commentating.
