Is this really the 'like something form a horror film' injury that is keeping him from playing for his club and country?

I've seen rugby players with similar injuries sprint off a filed, get a bit of rope stitched in and be back playing in 5 minutes.

Terry Butch and Stuart Pearce can only shake their heads in wonder at what a player will use as an excuse not to play for the shirt these days.

Actually I think he looks better than usual...............
Good job he doesn't play Lacrosse.
That looks nasty enough to have potential concussion involved - another knock in the same place could be fatal.

i think it's the right decision to keep Rooney out.

Why does he need German doctor? :o)

Concussion ... symptoms ...

Vomiting, lack of coordination, not paying attention ...

With a footballer, how would they tell the difference ??
Heading a ball is important in football, unless it's fully healed the wound would open up again.
Don't worry, vulcan ... I got the joke, lol
In football, one has to head the ball, unlike other sports and hence his laceration is in the wrong place for that.
I wouldn't like to head a ball with that injury, even with stitches and a protective dressing.....would you?
I wouldn't want to be running about with a cut like that.
Was he hit with a particular stick.

I take your point, but for £150,000+ per week I'd have expected a little more, how can we say, 'character', especially given that some play with a protective cover for their cheekbone when they've suffered a fractured zygoma etc.
I'm sure they could have come up with something for Shrek.

Is there a word with a letter missing in your answer?
Brilliant Squad, absolutely brilliant.
Chilli....it is an open wound.....a laceration........it needs to heal.

Unlike fractures, they are anomaly closed wounds and protective gear is usually adequate....e.g zygoma.
The rules of football don't allow a player to start a game wearing any substantial headgear on the forehead, protective or otherwise.

Special dispensatition is made for players with permanent injuries such as Eric young.
doc...what about Torres and the Chelsea goalkeeper, they wear or wore protective head gear.
Good point sqad, but because they play for Chelsea they don't count. :)
doc...LOL
