Today is when the final Team GB Olympic team is confirmed.

I hope there are lots of confirmations and surprises, and no disappointments. We don't want any broken hearts on Happy Wednesday.

Just a few random bit, to keep us going.

Sheffield I'd contributing more than its fair share of competitors. Along with James Woods and Katie Summerhayes, here is ...

James Machon. James's event is the Half Pipe. He's been placing well in recent international competitions, and he's another real medal prospect. He's also a really nice guy.

Come on Team GB

Come on James Machon!

This is interesting ...

These are the most expensive Olympics (winter or summer) ever.

The cost is working out at about $520m per event, about four times more than Beijing, which were seen as an extravagant Games.

Oh, cripes, those loos are hilarious.

Although I suppose the Romans all used to sit and have a poop together. Maybe the Russians are reflecting the glorious days of classical civilisations.
more likely they are still in "collective farm" mode.

You have to love Putin's "conciliatory" message to gays visiting the Olympics (in today's paper).

"You won't be grabbed off the streets. But please leave the children alone."

Pause for laughter.

Was he trying to be humorous? Was he having a dig at those people who see"gay" and think "paedophile"?

Or was he ... surely not ... being serious?

Err ...

Apparently he was being serious.
Does anyone have a link to a list of our team.
Question Author
Yeh, thank you.
