Further to the earlier thread, I heard on the radio the other week that a French player who was injured in the 1982 World Cup, had to have an operation on his leg and has never woken up from the anaesthetic, He's still in a coma. Don't know who it was.

Seems he did play in a World Cup qualifier for France but not at the World Cup finals.
