If there's already a thread on this, apologies. (I can't see one.)
Well done Europe on a great victory!

It's a fantastic result. Again. The celebrations after each win were more like footballers but if it livens up the game, then great.
true and quite a verbal fight developing between Mickleson and Tom Watson......
A good walk spoiled? Tell that to Europe! Well done lads!
Yes, a brilliant result for Europe and you get a sneaking satisfaction in seeing the Americans arguing amongst themselves - I think it's called Schadenfreude -although it's sad to see a great player like Tom Watson being humbled!

Mind you he did look old and out of touch with his Team - shame!
I don't think there was much doubt that Europe were going to win from a long way out. Compare the captaincy of McGinlay, who seemed to leave no stone unturned in his quest for victory, to that of Mr Personality Tom Watson. I know who I would rather be playing for.

The U.S. press conference = The night of the long knives!
well done to Europe...AND ..the Americans need to learn some etiquette and common manners...!
quite simple really Europe play as a team usa don't
It is said that the captain's responsibility equates to perhaps 15% of the result.

It is quite simple here.....the European side had much superior players to the USA. This is very difficult for the Americans to accept, hence the distasteful post match witch-hunting of Tom Watson.
don't like the Yanks' attitude one bit ! would not have gone down well in my club house..

Sir O ...you have neighbours..my nephews have moved into a lovel bungalow in Bomaly ..think it is Westfiels Avenue ? something like that..right next to the old Torphin course !
westfield^^^
I think Mickleson is well out of order. He may be right but this wringing out of their dirty laundry should have been done behind scenes. It's not going to endear Phil to the USGA et al.....Watson is afforded demi-god status over there along with Jack Nicklaus.
perhaps they should go back to the old format of great britain v america to make it more of a match :-)

......and Ireland!
have met Tom Watson several times..a very nice gentleman ...
I agree DTC.
Mickelson didn't stab him in the back though.....it was right in the chest, in full view of the world's media!

Whatever choices Watson made it was difficult to see what he could have done to wrest the cup from Europe.
Mickelson can moan about sitting it out but his RC record isn't exactly sparkling and a Captain goes with his gut instinct.
It was very, very poor form of Lefty to publicly assassinate Watson's character like that and will only foster more ill will within the American team for future events. By all means have it out with your Captain in the locker/team room, but not in a press conference 1 hour after the event, when everyone is hurting and a bit raw.
Minty Is it perhaps Bonaly Western that they have moved to ? Don't know of a Westfield here.

Sad about Torphin GC although it was a bit "hilly "for me in my advancing years. Rumour has it that there are others tottering on the brink.

Does this mean that I am likely to see you in the Spylaw Tavern or MacKenzies in the future?

Woodfield avenue sir O.....down the left fork at McKenzies and off to left !! I will carry a Times, wear a carnation and prop a parrot on my shoulder !! Lol
She's not getting out the shed Sir O... ;0) Minty hope today went well xx
Minty If you are looking to find Woodfield Avenue it is on the RIGHT of Woodhall Road not left as you say. There is a Woodhall Bank which is on the left.

You are adding to my statistical theory that 75% of females do not know their left from their right.

I will be on the look out for a forlorn figure with parrot on her shoulder " Perdu " in Colinton ,and wearing a green and white scarf after tonight's thrashing of Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox.
