Am a big admirer of Jo Pavey, but should a European gold medallist have priority over world champions such as Helen Glover and Heather Stanning (who broke the world best time for their event in rowing and didn't even make the long list) ?
I can't see Rooney ever winning. People don't like him.
I'm not sure I believe Bradley Wiggins when he said his best sporting achievement of his year was winning SPOTY. The award is a nice little thing to talk about for sports fans when most sport has finished for the season. It doesn't really matter to anyone, does it?

Can anyone tell me the number of multi millionaires who DO reside in the UK full time? Can't be more than a handful.
Also, given the choice I'm sure we'd all live in sunnier climes away from media scrutiny, wouldn't we?
And finally, if my chosen profession was one whereby I could possibly suffer death or serious injury every day I'd feel a little aggrieved at giving away half my earnings too. Far better the government chase the massive corporations avoiding tax here than chasing and haranguing a few individuals.
