Genuinely good news - it would have been a travesty if Button had been dumped for 2015.

He's probably the best driver 'in the wet' that there has ever been and will give Alonso (probably the best driver in the dry at the moment) a good run for his money.

Let's hope the Honda engines are up to scratch and that McLaren will give Mercedes some proper competition next season.

Woohoo! Great news. I love Jenson, he's a fantastic driver and a true gentleman in the sport. He comes across as being very warm and genuinely popular amongst his fellow drivers.

Good news....and the cricket too!
Yes it's true justice.

But if I were Jenson I'd now say to McLaren "Well thanks very much but actually I'm not interested now. I've got a nice job lined up driving in the Endurance series and the way you (mainly R Dennis) have treated me makes me think I'd be better off elsewhere. Best of luck to you with Fernando (who will begin to sulk after about three races, especially if I've outscored him). I'm off!"

But Jenson won't do that because he's a gentleman.

Yep - had a duvet morning today listening to Joe Root & James Taylor doing the business - then watched the highlights on Sky this afternoon (well what else is there to do on a vile Thursday in December?)
So how is this thing going to work between Alonso and Ron Dennis ( when there is no love lost between them ) ?

I'm not so sure that Alonso is the best driver in the dry at the moment - a few seasons ago , probably yes - we will see .

Also will Alonso consider himself to be the 'number 1 ' driver in the team ?
That was the issue with him and Hamilton , when they were at Mclaren previously
Yes he will consider himself to be numero uno as McLaren are paying him twice as much as Jenson.
''if I were Jenson I'd now say to McLaren "Well thanks very much but actually I'm not interested now''

Only problem is, he is still interested... so much so that he's accepted a 30% cut in wages for next year. Then again, money isn't a driving force for him at this stage of his career: he's more interested in testing himself against Alonso.
Best of luck to him
My son is pleased Jensen is staying .... because he has just spent months making 5 of next years chassis for him and McLaren. That would have been soul destroying had he left and didn't get to use them.
