as a loyal magpie, i am in despair 27 pts. is not enough to ensure EPL survival. NO manager, NO prospect of any signings, the potential sale of the lease, to the only part of the ground that can be extended, to keep up with 1, european games and 2, the rest of the EPL in ground capacity.
NO ambition to do anything other than to survive as a football factory and an EPL club.
the sponsorship of wonga is an anathema which demeans this great club i would have thought that the toon would be an exciting prospect for an ambitious forward thinking owner. please mike ashley go back to sports direct.
Well I guess there's a rather ironic ring in the phrase, "Wronga, it has to be Wonga."
They really need major surgery performed on them and the first thing is a decent manager for the long run and that means a decent board. The demotion is looming big and may be necessary.
Another candidate, sorry tony and daisy, is Villa - many of the same issues there too.
I am not really a football fan, though Tyneside born and bred. The last time I paid to watch NUFC was in 1974 when they were held to a draw by Luton in the 4th round of the League Cup, only to lose the replay. That was 35p down the drain - I could have got 2 pints for that money!
Unfortunately they are similar to other clubs that want instant results from a new manager, and when they don't get it, they sack them which disrupts the team and staff.
When they took on Pardrew with a 5 year contract, I think everybody thought no way will he last, and he didn't.
Not because he isn't a good manager, its because managers don't last that long at Newcastle, 11 in the past 10 years, and the money they have paid out over the years in compensation must be millions.
For a club with such a huge following they've always been badly run, when Shearer was there didn't the chairman take the *** out of him and call him Mary Poppins, and called the female supporters dogs and mocked the fans for spending money on merchandise?
In the right hands they could be a top four club instead of a laughing stock
The problem with NUFC is their fans. They wanted rid of their manager and they got their wish, much to the joy of Crystal Palace fans. If Pardew used terms like "Whey aye man" instead of "Cor bloymey, let's go dahn Mile End Road", they'd have thought he was wonderful
Bearing in mind the constraints he was under, Alan Pardew was a fabulous manager
