Proper Cricket

Test series between England and Windies just starting today in Antigua.

I honestly don't care who wins, just want to see some proper cricket with time for matches to develop and swing - all this fast food, one-day, crap doesn't satisfy the inner dave - sometimes you need some proper 'slow food'.

Good day - 341-5 - century for Bell and decent scores for Stokes and Root.

That's what is good about Test Cricket - England were on the ropes at lunchtime and in a one-day game that would have been that - but in Tests there is time to rebuild & the balance of the game can ebb and flow :)

I sort of get it.

I mean, the whole cricket thing.

Sitting in the sun, drinking fizz, and watching something tactical.

I even went to Lord's a few years ago to see Sussex lose to someone else. Hampshire, maybe, or someone like that.

But then on lots of other levels, I just don't get it.

It's quite easy really

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game
