If a team bats badly, bowls badly and fields badly, it is going to lose.......and that as what England has done in this test.

Moeen Ali is not of Test standard and Bell needs replacing.
I'm fearing the worst for The Ashes series. Agree with Sqad about Ali, and Bell now seems to be woefully out of nick.
The cricket board has been too hasty over Kevin Peterson, in my opinion.
Upper middle order is unreliable and Bell and Balance cannot be relied upon.

I would reinstate Peterson in place of Bell.
Ballance has had a bad series but in the WI he managed to reach 1000 runs in one of the fastest times ever. A bad run since then but I don't think his place should be under threat, although he will have work to do in the Ashes. Main concern would be Bell, whose poor run extends rather longer; and Ali, who looks like he has potential in the long run to be fair.

Also Stokes' bowling is a bit temperamental, but I expect he's going to be one of those people capable of producing the occasional destructive spell, so not really a concern. But despite the loss, we look in better shape now than a couple of months back.
Root didn't exactly predict a win, just said they'd try hard to get one. In the end they recovered well, but I think they were outgunned. They're probably lucky there were only two matches in the series. And the next arrivals are...
