Jumping without a parachute ? No, I'm not insane; and I have a healthy self preservation instinct.
You could pay me a billion dollars and still no. From the looks of things there were plenty of opportunities to bail out -- for the first 90 seconds at least one person was next to him in the jump -- but I wouldn't care.

Having said that, surviving a fall without a parachute is possible even without a net, as long as you have something else soft to land on that's at least a couple of metres thick, so it's probably more the principle that I object to. Good luck getting me to jump out of a plane even with a parachute...
Why would you want to ?
can't find it but there was a bloke who jumped without a chute and had the chute was dropped out of another plane and he had to catch it and put it on, like in the opening sequence to Moonraker.

I did quite a few jumps as a RM, I don't mind admitting I had help leaving the 'plane on the first one. After that I couldn't get enough of it, but, without a 'chute . . . NO WAY!!!!
I wouldn't jump even with 2 parachutes.

How on earth did he land in the net, taking into account trajectory and wind speeds and the like?

thanx alba, my point, with wind speeds it would've been impossible, 120mph, to drop in2 a net with so much accuracy, it seemed impossible.
