sad to see that Doddie Weir has Motor Neurone disease, only just read
about it, in case its been discussed before. He seems such a nice guy, let's hope there is some progress in treating this awful condition.

perhaps lots don't know who he is... have watched him on many occasions.
This from August for those who don't, a dreadful disease indeed.

very sad.
It is a truly awful disease. A middle-aged lady with teenaged children, lives in the next village, has got it. There are massive fund-raising efforts going on to get her to the USA, where there seems to be some sort of experimental treatment that slows the progress. Up to about £18K in 2 months - need £60K - every pub has a box, every fund-raiser puts a percentage aside for her, concerts, raffles are being held. So sorry for Doddie. :(
is this one of those things that might be caused by crashing round rugby fields? There's been a lot of cooncern lately about rugby players in late middle age developing dementia after hammering themselves and tackling others for years.
The lady I know of has never played rugby, jno.
amongst what could be a sad thread, nice to see a lovely bit of sardonic humour, jourdain - brill....
:)
