The problem with using this in football is that there are far fewer dead ball situations. Last night's game between Chelsea and Arsenal was a classic case of the problem: a contentious foul in the Arsenal area was only referred to the VAR ages afterwards. What if Arsenal had gone up thr other end and scored in the meantime? Presumably all the action between the incident and the goal would have to be cancelled. I am not sure I see how it can work sensibly for this sort of situation, no matter how quickly you summon the video bods.

ich I'm just talking about how they tell the audience what's going on, not the why's and wherefores of when it can be used.

No I agree with you tora.
I just hope though that they realise the problems this innovation can cause. I'm all for using video, but it can't possibly work the same way for football as it does for rugby and expecially cricket

Is football trialling video reviews of any contentious happenings or only specific ones and if so , what are they ?

it says here that it will mostly be used in when the game is stopped anyway: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42604127 - so good idea if the ball is dead why not review the situation to ensure accuracy?

Given that football crowds are made up of members of the intelligentsia there should be no problem with the pro-active, forward thinking modernisers who control the beautiful game getting the message across to them.

Listening on 'talksport' none of the tv, radio could hear what was going so had very little to say.
You mean the ref to gesture with his hands a box don't you so everyone can see and knows he's checking out the replay.
