Spoilers will probably follow.

Let’s hope this turns out to be as good as everyone hopes - one of the few genuinely appetising matches of the initial stages.

My money’s on Portugal - but Spain may either be a disheartened rabble or an inspired team, after the shambles of sacking their coach two days ago.

It can’t be any worse than this afternoon’s apology for a match - from what little I could bear to watch, there were 28 players all trying for the “Most Ludicrous Feigned Injury” prize - served Morocco right when (after endless time-wasting) they conceded an own goal in injury time.

Ooooh Ronaldo hits the turf - penalty
Question Author
1-0 Portugal - did look like a penalty on the replays.
As good as De-Gea is , It always favoured Ronaldo to bag it.
I think Ronaldo left his right leg there waiting for it to be clipped (when you see the video from behind).

Ref fell for it.

Still Ronaldo took it well and at least it sets the game up not to be a cagey 0-0 draw.
You could say Real Madrid sticking the boot into their national side again this week.
Wow, what a game... this what its all about. 1-1
Question Author
ooof - did Pepe fall or was he pushed?

Excellent skills to take the goal though

Wow - cracker

Great first half - 25 minutes of Spanish brilliance and then a horrorshow miss by De Gea

2-1 Portugal and time for a beer
yer missing Emmerdale !!
Totally agree, the WC's kicked-off. Unlike De-Gea to fumble like that. Lets hope for more of the same in the second half.
What a match this is turning out to be.

And Spain eventually pick the lock .... 2-2
make that 3-2
Some game this. Costa is a serious "piece of work" and Spain have just taken the lead.
or 2-3 if you want to be pedantic.
Following my draws in the sweep at work this morning I'd like to put my comments on Mr Ronaldo to one side for the duration of Portugal's time in the competition.

Be nice if Japan progress too. :-)

This really is a cracking match - best I’ve seen in years.

And while I’m typing Nacho lashs in Spain’s third ...
What a strike that was, and from a defender.
