Had to watch the Portugal v Morocco game today with the volume turned down thought the woman commentating was dreadful not a great voice etc for the football I am by no means sexist all for women doing various jobs but this one should have been for a a good male soccer commentator , Bring back John Motson.

Actually, if as it appears, you are saying that the commentator should have been a man simply because he is a man, then sexist is exactly what you are!

She wasn't that great - either through nerves or lack of prep she wasn't actually very good at naming players quickly (or accurately).

She also seemed to confuse her role with that of the 'added value' summariser and didn't always do enough of the main commentary job.

But - everyone has to start somewhere and I've heard (much, much) worse debuts from erstwhile male commentators.

Your observation that " ... this one should have been for a good male soccer commentator … " does appear to infer that you think a man should have done the job, simply because he is a man, and I believe that fills the criteria of a sexist observation, and your gender does not cancel that out.

Did not really listen to what she was saying as her voice grated so much it was not pleasant to listen to. Nearly as bad as that awful women who commentates on the gymnastics. No objections to women as long as they have pleasant voices.

Agree with you bakers dozen, gymnastics spoiled for me as well with the awful commentary of grating voices, just because you are good at a sport etc doesn’t qualify you for commentating.

I didn't watch the match and cannot comment on her voice, but so many of the commentators are too loud and high pitched, that I often have to turn the sound off. Motsy was one of the worse!
