its a shame this game was overshadowed by politics. It appears the ref wouldn't give a blatant penalty due to his political beliefs. Surely this cant be acceptable?
Should the play be played again? or switzerland docked 3 points?

That's rather a precipitous statement, piggynose. Where did you hear that? Although I'm convinced that the Russian/Georgian linesman awarded a goal to England in 1966 because the opposition were Germans who'd committed atrocities in his country in WW2. He wouldn't! Would he?!!
So far the refereeing leaves much to be desired.

maybe it is 10clarrion, but what other reason didnt he give it?
I'm puzzzled by the appointment of the referees in the World Cup. Why appoint a european ref to an almost european match, too close to home, when they could appoint a South American for example, or a Japanese or Australian ref?
It’s the opinion of the Serbians that the referee was politically biased. But then they would say that. No one else thinks so.
Tofiq Bakhramov in 1966 was Azeri rather than Georgian
Does anyone have a link to this story? Again we are left in the dark.

A bit naughty admittedly of Shaqiri and Xhaka, but that is no excuse for the ludicrous accusations of the Serbs.
