Anyone Else Annoyed They Missed The Cwc?
I was lucky enough to be at Wimbledon yesterday to see the thrilling match between Fed and Djok. I was following the cricket scores while watching the tennis, and saw that there was a Super Over just as Djok won. I rushed up to my husband and his iPad where he was watching the cricket in the lounge and just caught the end.
Now all I hear about everywhere is the amazing match - cricket.
I feel I missed something special. If Fed had won it might have been worth it. But no, the man let me down ;(
Was it that special?

New Zealand were the better team on the day....my opinion.
At the end of 50 overs...a tie.
At the end of Super over...a tie.
BUT..........there may have been an umpire error in that 5 runs should have been given to the last ball instead of six in which New Zealand should have won by one run instead of a tie an which England won because of more boundaries in the match.

It’s just different strokes, isn’t it? I played tennis to a fairly high local level but I never watch Wimbledon. It just doesn’t interest me. Now cricket......that’s different. I love cricket and get much more from that than I would from tennis.
And if Clover doesn’t return soon, Sqad.....I rather like your tales so......... :-)

I'm so glad I caught the end of the CWC, Mr. J2 was glued to F1; then I got the tennis on, but had to leave in the middle of the final set for church (I was on teas). Got back in time to see the last 20 mins. or so of CWC - incredible, so exciting and tense. How come you got a ticket to the Men's final? I'm actually rather glad that I didn't have to watch Federer lose.
gness....well, on second thoughts.!!!!!
1959 Royal Sussex County Hospital a tradition was that the drs played the nurses at tennis, then sandwiches and drinks followed by a party in the Drs mess.......a pajama party and the most junior doctor ME, had to organise it.
I played and had to find five other Drs, I found four quite easily but the 5th proved difficult as the senior Surgical registrar said he couldn't play tennis,an Ausiie named Paul Steadman.
But i got a 6th, the tennis was played and the pyjama party was a success .
Some weeks later, kenny Rosewall and Lew Hoad came to Brighton to play an exhibition match and 2or 3 of us including Paul Steadman bought tickets for the event.
Are you still awake???????
During the Exhibition we passed Lew Hoad and he immediately recognised Paul Steadman and said."Hi1 Paul how are you, still playing tennis?"
The guy that wouldn't play for us as he couldn't play tennis was a State player New South Wales and was to play at Wimbledon that year, but declined because of his surgical commitments.
How about that.
The party?I remebber it well ...she was a 16yearold redheaded pre.nurse and the colour of underwear in that year was black and silk.
LOL.

And there was I....wondering just how far I’d have to go to get you to tell!
It was interesting, Sqad....a nice tale so I had a google around because I like to know about people.....the only Paul Steadman who came up for me is....Australia’s most wanted criminal!!! :-)
Your spelling of...remember....tells me that you do remember both the nurse and the colour of underwear. What memories do to the fingers!!!
Nice story....thank you....x
