Leeds Utd Legend Norman 'Bites Yer Legs' Hunter has succumbed to the Covid19 virus at the age of 76. He will no doubt be best remembered as a no-nonsense defender who quite often would send not only the ball into 'Row Z', but his opponent, too. :-) He made over 700 appearances for the Elland Road outfit and was very much a crowd favourite.
RIP Norman.

Saw Norm play several times in early 70s and had the pleasure (and it really was) of meeting him about 15 years ago. RIP, Norm.
Someone once said to Don Revy,"Norman has broken a leg." Revy replied," Whose?"

Loved to watch him on MOTD but absolutely hated seeing him in the flesh. In other words, when he lined up against The Clarets. Some of those on the terraces used to watch most of a Burnley v Leeds match through their fingers. He never took any prisoners.
Yeah Rip Norman .Rememer some one talking about him once and said another player on the pitch asked him how the player who Norman had tackled was . He’s said I think he’s dead .Bring back the Normans ,the game needs them . With Norman ,Styles Mackay and Harris the diving was real .
My late brother in law went to Leeds for trials and became very friendly with Norman Hunter, sadly my brother in law preferred the bottle and died of alcoholism
Sad news, but slightly better for Jimmy Greaves, who has just spent time in hospital but has now been allowed home.
Loads off legs being bitten in the afterlife then.

Rest in peace Norm.

that's all in the past, it's a very different game now. in those days they gave and took physical tackles, and often played while carrying the odd injury. today players are so highly strung physically that the slightest knock sees them sidelined for weeks.

Too true, mushroom, and if a player got whacked, he didn't roll over and over clutching a part of his body. He just whacked the other player back. Proper football :-)
I gave up watching football when players became so frail that the breeze of an opponent passing six feet away blew them off their feet. Norman Hunter, from what I recall of him, managed to get slightly closer to his opponents than that before they succumbed.
Hurts me to admit it, coming from the other side of the hills, but he was an important player in one of the great British teams.

RIP
A word banded about willy nilly ,
Not this time,
A true LEGEND of the game,
RIP Norman.
legend, bunch of *** today could learn a lot from NH! RIP guvnor!
Of his era a brilliant player, like my old Captain Chopper
But in hindsight careers were ended by such stars but it was part of the game and fans revelled in players for whom the phrase 'he likes to tackle' was invented.
He'd be red card Hunter these days and the fans would still love him for it.

Great Player,Great Man,R.I.P. Norman.
RIP Norman.
R.I.P Norman Hunter. He was a better player than the "bites yer legs" epithet. He was in the England 66 squad and only kept out of the team by Bobby Moore and Jack Charlton. Legend.
tommy lawton would have appreciated the great man:
