Question Author
Paire, Wawrinka and Nishikori all won. Unfortunately, none by the predicted score:-(

Gael Monfils 3-0 @ 3/1
Albert Ramos-Vinolas 3-1 @ 3/1
Daniel Altmeir 3-1 @ 3/1

£1 Trixie, £1 Treble = poss return of £182.
Question Author
Monfils lost but t'other 2 won - again not by the score i predicted. Working tomorrow and Wednesday, so i've put these up early. Usual £1 Trixie and £1 Treble but because of the price, i've also put a couple to win on Laaksonen.

Laslo Djere 3-1 @ 10/3
Henri Laaksonen 3-1 @ 7/1
Andrej Martin 3-1 @ 3/1

Poss return of £377
Question Author
Not even close with yesterday's predictions. Hoping for much better from these 3;

Stan Wawrinka 3-1 @ 5/2 (Just starting)
Stefano Trevaglia 3-1 @ 7/2
Benoit Paire 3-2 @ 11/2

£1 Trixie, £1 Treble = poss return of £272.51p
Question Author
Off to a flyer yesterday with Stan the Man doing the biz but Trevaglia allowed his opponent to win 2 sets before winning and t'other fellow got beat :-(

Marton Fucsovics 3-1 @ 29/10
Karen Kachanov 3-1 @ 11/4
Lan Lennard Struff 3-2 @ 6/1 (£2 win single)

£1 Trixie, £1 Treble @ boosted odds for possible return of £266.
Question Author
Just the one correct result again yesterday. Don't think i've ever known a tennis tournament with so little head 2 head history. Even the two Germans, Struff and Altmeir, had never met in competition before yesterday's match. Still, undeterred;

Taylor Fritz 3-2 @ 11/2 (£2.20 win)
Alexander Zverev 3-1 @ 3/1
Pedro Martinez-Portero 3-1 @ 3/1

£1 Trixie, £1 Treble for a possible return of £286
Question Author
Just the one correct score again yesterday - other two were beaten 3-0!!
Have tried to avoid long-odds on favs, so far, but the tournament is now at the stage where they are almost unavoidable. The first two below are long odds on to win their games and i'm just hoping that their opponents are good enough to take a set against them. My third selection is probably the most evenly matched game of the tournament so far - and their is enough h2h history to suggest this will go to the wire.

Mario Berrettini 3-1 @ 27/10
Andrey Rublev 3-1 @ 27/10
Roberto Batista-Agut 3-2 @ 5/1 (£2 win single)

£1 Trixie, £1 Treble (boosted odds) = poss £251 return
Question Author
I had hoped for more h2h history now we're into the second week of the tournament but my hopes are in vain :-(

Andrey Rublev 3-1 @ 5/2
Stefano Tsitsipas 3-1 @ 13/5
Pablo Carreno Busta 3-1 @ 27/10

£1 Trixie, £1 Treble = poss £132 return
Question Author
I see there is an investigation into match fixing in the French Open. That probably explains my poor performance so far :-))

Rublev and Tsitsipas ought to be a close encounter - maybe down to the wire.
Djoko plays the guy who was 6-5 up in that infamous first set where Djoko was disqualified.
Kvitova should have too much raw power for Siegemund
Collins is a battler but Kenin ought to win.

Rublev 3-2 @ 6/1 (Win single)
Djoko 3-0 @ 8/15
Kvitova 2-0 @ 8/11
Kenin 2-1 @ 3/1

Question Author
Comrade Rublev was a complete disappointment and Djoko lost his first set of the tournament, leaving me with just a double which returned approx half of my total stake.

Nadia Podoroska has been the big surprise of this year's French Open, punching way, way above her weight. However, Iga Swiatek has yet to drop a set and has looked the most likely winner of this tournament. Swiatek 2-0 @ 8/11

Sofia Kenin may be ranked higher (6th) than today's opponent Petra Kvitova (11th) but i believe the latter's experience will possibly be the deciding factor in what could be a very close encounter. Kenin has had to battle to get to the semis but Kvitova has breezed through and has yet to drop a set. She may have to dig a bit deeper today. Kvitova to win 2-1 @ 3/1

Rafael Nadal is a 12 time winner of the French Open, clay being his preferred surface, and he has cruised through the earlier rounds, tested only in the first set in his 3-0n victory over Jannik Sinner in the last round. He ought to beat Diego Schwartzman comfortably, especially as how the Argentinian had such an arduous last round 3-2 victory which took a gruelling 5 hours plus. He could give Nadal a problem or two and i take him to at least win a set. Nadal to win 3-1 @ 13/5

Stefanos Tsitsipas is playing some great tennis at the moment and swept aside Andrey Rublev in the last round. His opening round victory went to the wire, but since then he has not dropped a set. However, he is up against the mercurial Novak Djokovic who only dropped his first set of the tournament yesterday. Dropping that set can only serve to stiffen Djoko' resolve and i take him to go through to face Nadal in the final. But he will have to be at his best. Djoko to win 3-1 @

50p Yank, 50p acca for a poss return of £195.44

Having fun talking to yourself Ken? ;-)
Schwartzman to win a set looks a good bet to me, especially a he beat Nadal last time out
Question Author
My heart says the Djokoman but my head says Nadal. The Spaniard is the King of Roland Garros, winning every French Open final he has contested (12!) and has yet to drop a set this tournament. This despite complaining about how cold it is and the new balls produced by 'Wilsons'. This is Nadal's surface - he has won 99 and lost just 2 of his matches at Roland Garros - and it is a collector's piece to see him lose on clay.
Djokovic's progress to this final has been more workmanlike than flashy and he had to pull out all the stops to prevail 3-2 in his semi-final victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas, letting a 2-0 lead slip before destroying the Greek 6-1 in the final set. He did exactly the same thing in 2015 against Andy Murray in the semis here (6-3, 6-3, 5-7, 5-7, 6-1) and was soundly beaten in the final by Stan Wawrinka.
Djokovic aims for his 18th Slam while Nadal aims to tie with Federer on 20. My gut feeling is that if Nadal is to prevail, he will do so with just a bit to spare. If the Djokoman is to upset the applecart, it will go the distance.

My bet, then, is;

£5 Nadal to win 3-1 @ 7/2
£2 Djokovic to win 3-2 @ 11/2

Do you mind not butting in on my private conversation. It's the only intelligent one i have all day long.
i'm tempted to back either of them to win 3-2 :-)
