This is absurd. I find it genuinely, head-scratchingly astonishing, that people are prepared to suspend belief and common-sense and accept it's OK for transgender 'women' to compete against proper women in any sport that requires speed, strength or both. Two recent examples - Hannah Mouncey, Aussie Rules footballer and Australian Women Handball...
I know jack, seems like madness, probably won't be too bad this time round, well Hubbard will win but at least there's a chance for the rest, but in 4 years time the women won't stand a chance.
Becausse there is so much money sloshing around in professional sport of all types at all levels, therre is a comensurate amount of corruption and immorality - here is another example to add to the sadly very long list.
Always been an advocate for LGB rights, and until recent times T, too. However, now that these are seeming to subsume hard-won Women's rights......not so much.
ynnaf - // @16.55.I thought you were all for LGBT rights, jth.Looks like you are just anti-transgenderist reactionary alongside the likes of JK Rowling et al. //
I am sure jack will love being reduced to a cultural stereotype on the basis of one observation which does not indicate her views on LGBT rights in the slightest.
There is a reactionary on the thread, but it's not her.
Ynna, J L Rowling isn’t anti anything. She simply said women menstruate - because they do. Sadly, vilification is often the price paid for speaking the truth in this wonky modem world of ours.
Other teams should boycott events involving this athlete.
I don't think the Transgender issue is one of either 'right' or 'left', it is simply should one group be allowed to completely trample over the rights of another larger group and stifle any attempts to complain or redress the balance.
I really can't see the problem.
All " suspicious " competitors should be genotypes...
Only 2 alternatives.....XY sex chromosome makes you male XX chromosome makes you female.
Abnormalities of the sex chromosomes are rare and when present automatically prevents you from entering competive athletics and other sports.
What is wrong with that hypothesis?
This is so unfair, what chance do women, who were born women, have competing against a woman who was born a man!
It will eventually end up being events open to; 1) Men born men. 2) Women born women, and 3) Everyone else!
Admittedly, I haven't considered every single sport but is there any where a female to male transgendered person would have an advantage over a 'male' competitor?
